A note from the editorial desk
Respect the voice.
Help the reader.
Hello, I'm Ann.
This is an independent copyediting and proofreading portfolio based in Manchester. Its focus is on writing that says what it means: an orderly paragraph, a consistent term and a sentence that carries its own weight.
The editorial samples are original fictional passages. They let you inspect a revision and the thinking behind it without presenting someone else's manuscript or inventing a client history.
A good brief identifies the intended reader and the author's priorities. Some texts need careful intervention; others need a restrained final check. Those are different assignments, and defining the boundary helps preserve the work's voice.
